Date when complaint was first laid: January 2025

Nature of complaint: Illegal Building, unsafe building, hazardous materials and no oversight.

Details of complaint: A three-bedroomed residential house was demolished in order to build a four-storey block of flats. Plans were approved for the block of flats, however the latest information is that the block will be converted to student housing, for which is has no permission.

In the last few weeks a vehicle was damaged due to building material falling on it, and an electrical fire broke out as a result of faulty wiring. The building site is also badly managed with building material on the pavement and road.

The building site is now a hazard to surrounding properties.

A newspaper story was published about the issue on June 26th, you can read it here.

Details of evidence given to the municipality: Written complaints, photographs and follow-ups.

Progress:  Plans were approved for a four-storey block of flats, but not student accommodation. The municipality is investigating.
