Nature of complaint: Illegal Building and Irregular Conversion to Student Accommodation
Details of complaint: The property was purchased and the owner obtained consent to perform minor alterations to the property. Extensive demolishing and building then began, with the intention to convert the building into a multiple-occupation student residence. The work continued on weekends and holidays despite several contravention notices that ordered the owner to stop building. Now that the building is approaching completion in contravention of all the notices, the owner has now applied for retrospective permission in order to legitimise the illegal conversion.
Details of evidence given to the municipality: Complaints, photographs, reference numbers, continuous reminders.
Progress: The owner has ignored all instructions to cease building and is close to completing the structure, and how now applied for retrospective permission.
